How to Meet Darts Players in Person

Every darts fan has the same daydream: a photo with their favourite player, maybe a quick word about that nine darter. At the big arenas it almost never happens. At exhibition nights it happens constantly. Here is how to actually meet darts players, without camping outside a stage door in December.

Why arenas rarely deliver

At the World Championship or a Premier League night, players arrive through secured entrances, play, and leave. With ten thousand people in the building, security keeps fans and players apart by design. Unless you have paid serious money for hospitality, your best hope is a wave from the stage.

Exhibitions are built for it

A darts exhibition exists precisely because fans want the close-up version. The room holds hundreds, not thousands. Players mingle, sign, pose for photos and chat. When Luke Humphries played Throwdown in July, the meet and greet queue was half the story of the night: kids in fancy dress, families, and a former World Champion with time for all of them.

How it works at Throwdown

  • Doors open at 6pm for every ticket, and that early window is when the room is most relaxed: throw darts on the practice boards, spot the players and content creators wandering about.
  • VIP tickets get first entry into the room and include a photo with the headliner, whether that is Gian van Veen on 26 September or Daryl Gurney on Halloween.
  • The creators are half the fun: the darts YouTubers and TikTokers you watch every week are on stage taking on the pros, and they are famously generous with their time afterwards.

Meet and greet etiquette

  • Have your phone ready before you reach the front of a queue, not after.
  • Bring a sharpie if you want something signed: a shirt, a flight, a programme.
  • Keep it quick when there is a queue behind you. Players remember polite fans, and so do the people running the night.
  • Kids first is the unwritten rule, and every pro we have hosted has honoured it without being asked.

The short version: if meeting players is the goal, skip the arena and find an exhibition near you. If you are anywhere near Birmingham or the Black Country, ours is at the Copthorne in Dudley, and the next headliner is the reigning European Champion.
