Darts Fancy Dress & What to Wear to a Darts Night

Short answer: whatever you like. Long answer: darts has the best-dressed crowds in sport, and what you wear depends entirely on what kind of night you're going to. Here's the guide.
The arena rule: fancy dress is practically compulsory
If you've watched the World Championship at Ally Pally, you know the drill - the crowd is bananas, traffic cones, Smurfs, and 400 Where's Wallys. Big arena darts has turned fancy dress into part of the sport itself. If you're off to a PDC arena night with a group, a matching costume is never the wrong call.
The exhibition rule: come comfy, leave happy
Live exhibition nights - like ours at The Copthorne, Dudley - are more relaxed. Most people come smart-casual or in their normal night-out gear, and fancy dress groups are always welcome and usually end up on camera. Plenty come in darts shirts too - the official Throwdown event shirt is made by our apparel partner PM Darts, if you fancy turning up in proper kit. There's no strict dress code at Throwdown: jeans and trainers are fine, all ages are in the room, and comfort wins - you'll be on your feet singing more than you think.
Three tips from people who've been
- Think about the photo. VIP tickets include a photo with the headline pro - wear something you'll be happy seeing on your wall (or your group chat) forever.
- Layers. A few hundred people singing Sweet Caroline generates more heat than you'd expect. Rooms get warm.
- Comfortable shoes. Between the practice boards, the merch stand and the bar, you'll cover more ground than the players do.
